Final sale and custom made items are considered final and cannot be returned or exchanged.

what are our accessories made out of?

All our pet accessories, matching human accessories and leash bags are made from reclaimed fabric that would have otherwise gone to a landfill.

what does reclaimed fabric mean?

We use the term reclaimed fabric for pre-consumer waste fabric that would have otherwise gone to a landfill. This includes leftover fabric from production, sample yardage and waste from the design process. Majority of our fabric comes from a non-profit called FabScrap that partners with companies in the fashion industry to properly recycle their textile waste. We typically do not upcycle clothing or finished products.

how do I measure my dog’s neck for a bandana?

Use a tape measure to find the girth of your dog's neck where you would like the bandana to sit. If your dog is between sizes or has a lot of fur we recommend sizing up.

how do I put the bandana on my dog?

Our bandanas are a traditional triangle tie around style that is both flattering and versatile on dogs of all shapes and sizes. We recommend rolling the bandana from the top until you achieve the desired height before tying it around your pups neck. You can either have the bandana hang in the front like a traditional bandana or lay it on their back known as the cape style. You can also roll the bandana up entirely before tying it around (like a cravat). This style is especially great if you have a puppy or dog that isn’t used to wearing a bandana and may be prone to try to bite at it.

how do I know which size bow tie to get for my dog?

The bow ties come in three sizes. The elastic loops that slip onto the collar are the same on all sizes so the size of the bow is personal preference. If you like an oversized look, or you have a pup with a lot of fur, we recommend sizing up.

what if my pup has a narrow collar?

The elastic loops on the bow tie work best with a collar that is ⅝” -1 ¼” wide. However, if you have a narrow collar we recommend wrapping each elastic loop twice around the collar (like you would securing a hair tie) and that will secure the bow tie so it doesn’t flap around.

I love bow ties, but what if I have a girl dog?

At Hudson Houndstooth we don’t believe any of our products or prints are gender specific. However, if you would like a more feminine look we suggest placing the bow tie on the side of the collar instead of straight on like a traditional bow tie.

what dyes are used to make our toys?

You might be surprised that no dyes are used at all. The rope is 100% OEKO-TEX Organic Cotton that is recycled from the garment district. These textiles are first shredded into a sort of dust and this is the stage the color is created. The shredded cotton is then mixed in various proportions in order to achieve the desired shade. Then it is spun into thread and turned into the beautiful ropes we use. This not only helps save textiles from ending up in a landfill, but it also saves on the water, chemicals and energy needed to dye cotton. Best of all it’s safe for your pet.
